Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Doctor JerBear. Children,Classical,Film/TV,Romantic Period. Score. 3 pages. Doctor JerBear #704844. Published by Doctor JerBear (A0.1101468).

There aren't many classical pieces that are well-suited to a beginning arrangement for clawhammer banjo, but Schumann's "The Happy Farmer" is one of them. I wasn't deliberately aiming for a beginner's arrangement, but I noticed it was naturally in Open G, with no drop thumb, and nothing difficult to reach except perhaps the 4th string F#... If you are a beginning clawhammer player and want to add a classical piece to your playbook, especially if you like the Wizard of Oz, this is one to pick!
