Altes Lied by Heinrich Poos for mixed a cappella choir (SSATBB) is a three-part sacred work which addresses a topic that had been frequently taken up in old times as well – love. In this case a tragic story: 'bin tot im Herzen' ['am dead at heart']. The very quiet, short sentences testify to the persona's grief and sorrow in German and Latin, with the pain of the broken heart becoming apparent again and again. Altes Lied is easy to study and practise and, due to its chorale-like structure, will not cause any difficulties for choirs. Poos has written a thought-provoking piece with which you can make your audience fly in thought.
