The Latin text "O magnum mysterium" is a Gregorian chant celebrating the wonder of Christmas Day. It reflects on the presence of the oxen and donkey next to the manger as first mentioned in Isaiah 1:3, traditionally related to the nativity of Jesus. The text has been set to music by many composers over the centuries, including Palestrina, Tomás Luis de Victoria and more recently, Morten Lauridsen. This setting for saxophone ensemble comes from a series of four Christmas motets by French composer Francis Poulenc in 1952.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
