Composed by Nathaniel Cleophas Davis. Arranged by Joshua Hauser. Folk,Jazz,Traditional. 13 pages. Gordon Cherry #5982839. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792714).

Mr. Trombonology by African American composer, trombonist, bandleader and publisher Nathaniel Cleophas "Shorty" Davis was written in 1917 as a Trombone solo in the American genre of Ragtime featuring the trombone's patented glissando as the "hook". These solos were also called smears or jazzes.

Mr. Trombonology is one of five entertaining works from Davis' "Trombone Family" written between 1915 and 1921 and comes with the subtitle - A Characteristic Trombone Smear. The Son of "Oh Slip It Man".

This arrangement has been expertly arranged by Joshua Hauser for Brass Quintet with the Trombonist as the featured soloist and is playable by moderately advanced performers.

Cherry Classics Music will be publishing the complete series of these works for Brass Quintet by Davis arranged by Mr. Hauser.
