Published by Sandy McIntire (A0.1220202).Arkansas Traveler is an old American Folk Song made popular by Sanford Faulkner, an Arkansas fiddler, who was responsible in large part for the story forming the basis of the song which was the official song of Arkansas from 1949 to 1963 and the state historical song since 1987. The tune is often played by old-time and bluegrass bands, and it has been featured in 20th century movie cartoons. This arrangement is for an Intermediate String Trio (two violins and cello) with the goal of giving the players as well as the audience a good time. As usual in McIntire's string trio arrangements, the players bounce the melody back and forth among themselves with some surprising collaborations as well. This arrangement is recommended for contests and festivals, and it would also make a great 3 minute encore.
