The change between piccolo and alto flute, magical sound surfaces of the piano and the scordatura of the cello again and again lead to new combinations. The piece concludes, with a wink, with a gradual downward move in quarter-tone steps on the low string of the cello to the Contra G, the initial of the composer celebrating his birthday.
