Much needed rests ( common but often overlooked for young players) are musically placed so as not to disturb the flowing phrases. Mystery features many dynamic expressions and tone contrasts (interesting shifts from minor to major with a surprise at the end!). The piano accompaniment provides a flowing undercurrent to support the easy melody line which features basic rhythms. Superb solo to really showcase any beginning oboe player!
