Edvard Grieg (1843 - 1907) Was a pianist and composer, who drew inspiration for his work from the Norwegian folk music of his native land of Norway.  This piece is an adaptation to one of his 66 short works for piano that comprise his "Lyric" Pieces, and was probably composed in 1886.This arrangement for string quartet is full of passion and lyricism. Written with melodic material distributed equally among the voices, it is suitable for advanced students, adult amateurs or professionals.
