Published by Jussi Lampela (A0.1014620).This arrangement for string quartet is based on the traditional hymn melody "Bethany" (by Lowell Mason), and is known by the text that Sarah Lowell Adams set in 1841. The hymn is also known from the tragedy of RMS Titanic; according to survivors, the ship's string ensemble played this tune when the ship sank.
This version has some chromaticism inbuilt that highlights the different turns of the melody. Adhering to the dynamics will also bring about the dramatic character of this arrangement.
Melody is mostly on the 1st violin, with the second violin taking melody for eight bars in third verse.
