The 8th piece of the first volume of "Preludes", a collection of piano pieces in the maturity of Claude Debussy. A well-known and beautiful piece of work.
The melody is inherited by multiple instruments and the bell-tone expresses the soft sound of the original song.
Although there are many instructions for weak notes such as p and pp, expressive performances that make use of the timbre of each instrument are required, without being constricted.
Commissioned by conductor Keiko Kobayashi, and the Sony Concert Band. Premiered on July 2, 2022.
