Published by Blaartart Productions (A0.1042367).Three Reels is the thrid of the three movements of An Irish Suite. It is based on a number of Irish reel tunes. As with all the movements of the suite, I have tried to portray the passion and vitality of Irish traditional music. The tunes in this thrid movement are wild and lively. I have included a little "Irish Counterpoint"/heterorhythmic texture that is a feature of the treatment of melody by Irish traditional musicians - all play the same tune but each with their own particular twist and flair. Also the Irish Uilleann pipes can be heard through a number of drone passages and the distinctive percussive "popping" technique used by Irish pipers. the conclusion is unashamedly Graineresque and presents a will finale to the piece. I am very keen to communicate with any conductor or ensemble who may be interested in performing this piece or perhaps even the the entire suite. (cavenaghfulton@yahoo.com.au).
