This trio is based on two contrasting themes and utilizes subtle rhythmic and meter changes throughout. The trombone part requires smooth lyric playing and a warm sound when muted. Also there is a quasi-cadenza for the Flute and Trombone alone. This piece would go well with similar pieces by Fisher Tull, Howard Buss, and Eric Ewazen.
