"The Day of Resurrection" is a highly playable overture that incorporates five memorable, joyful Easter hymns: "The Day of Resurrection" (ELLACOMBE),"Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain" (ST. KEVIN), "He is Risen, He is Risen" (UNSER HERRSCHER), "This Joyful Eastertide" (VRUECHTEN), and "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" (EASTER HYMN).

Ideal as an Easter Sunday prelude, the overture is scored for brass quintet (Bb trumpets 1-2, horn in F, trombone, tuba), organ, handbells in five octaves, timpani, and snare drum.
