2017 Holiday Contest Entry

This is an original piano arrangement for Mary, Did You Know? by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene. The piano arrangement is composed by Nicholas Steinbach. The arrangement features a pastoral intro with a meandering melody that returns at the end of the piece. The arrangement is very flowing with sections calling for expressive playing in a rubato style. It features rhythm that deviates slightly from the original and is rich with unique harmony. While deviation is the key to this arrangement's beauty, it is instantly recognizable to any person that knows the song and is perfect for any holiday gathering. 


Note from the arranger: I hope you enjoy this arrangement as I definitely enjoyed writing it! Please feel free to deviate further from the sheet music when playing this. Add crescendos or diminuendos where you see fit or add mordents or grace notes here and there. This is a very expressive arrangement and I encourage you to play it that way!
