“Will the Sun Ever Shine Again?” is a beautiful tune from a lesser known Disney film, “Home on the Range.” While this film was not a success, this song is a stand out from it’s score, with Music by Alan Menken and Lyrics by Glenn Slater. Alan Menken has stated in interviews about this song that it was written after the 9/11 attacks in New York City. While not specifically about that in the story of the film, you can feel the artists pouring their emotions into the music and lyrics of this piece as they try to make sense of the world as it was in that time. I hope you and your quintet enjoy playing this piece. I have found it to be an emotional and satisfying one to perform and audiences will enjoy it as a part of any program as well.
