The jazz marcato is generally punchier, shorter, and made with a lot more “pizzazz” (hold the mozzarella).
The tuba alternates between the roles of a string bass providing a stabilizing, rhythmic foundation and a saxophone floating on top of the “changes” throughout the more quasi-improvised, melodic sections.
