By Stephen Michael Taylor. By Henry Purcell. Arranged by Stephen Michael Taylor. Baroque,Celtic,Chamber,Folk,Irish,Wedding. 6 pages. SMT Music #979063. Published by SMT Music (A0.1395624).

Meryton Townhall was used in the movie soundtrack of Pride and Prejudice 2005. The film composer, Dario Marianelli, used several period pieces of
music for scenes in the movie. This is a lively festive dance that was originally composed by Henry Purcell who lived in the 17th century. It sounds
very folk-like and it's possible he heard it being played by a band and decided to formally write it down.
I took the original music and added a section to it that I composed which sounds stylistically right to give it a bit more length. This music
is great for wedding recessional or just if you want a lively background music piece for your reception or gig it is fun to play. I also did a string quartet
arrangement and you will find that on SMP as well.
