This popular standard song from the 1932 movie “LOVE ME TONIGHT," has been recorded by many vocalists including Jeanette MacDonald, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Deanna Durbin, however the most favorite recording is by Ella Fitzgerald.
This unique Advanced Intermediate piano solo arrangement is written in a syncopated 6/8 Waltz time of D Major, later modulating to E Flat. It is clearly and carefully notated with dynamic marks, phrasing, suggested fingerings, pedal indications, chord identifications and appropriate musical terms for playing.
The sheet music arrangement of LOVER is a study in reading accidentals and chromatic harmonies. Improvisational techniques color the piece and are incorporated throughout. The left hand sometimes features arpeggiated patterns made up of 9ths while the right hand utilizes sixth intervals with a touch of jazz harmony.
This piano arrangement sounds artistic and impressive…a wonderful selection, ideal for teaching, recitals and enjoyment.
