By Josephine Baker. By Hilm, Kreuder, and Lengsfelder. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Contemporary. 7 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6072443. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955807).

The melody for this farewell song Sag’ beim Abschied leise ‘Servus’ comes from the failed  operetta Blindekuh (1878) by Johann Strauss II (1825-1899). It was borrowed by composer Peter Kreuder and friends for the movie Burgtheater (1936).  This charming waltz uses the word ‘Servus’ in the friendly colloquial way of greeting; it can be used either for saying hello as well as saying goodbye.  This tune is a perfect ending or encore number for an evening of Viennese music, be it a concert or an outdoor event.  It is arranged for 4-part SATB choir and piano.  The text is German.  Performance time: 2:15.
