Composed by Alexander Safford. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. North Summit Music Press, LLC #1909149. Published by North Summit Music Press, LLC (A0.886270).

Winner of the 2012 Merle J. Isaac Composition Competition. The Call of the Sea is a challenging, and energetic work that is engaging for all of the sections of the orchestra. While not specifically programmatic, the piece is meant to evoke a vague sense of the sea and its tumultuous nature. For fingering and position markings, the following system has been employed: dashes indicate shifts, numbers indicate suggested fingerings, and roman numerals indicate suggested positions.
