String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.766985

Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by Bob Delfausse. Baroque,Concert. Score and parts. 12 pages. Robert Delfausse #5324203. Published by Robert Delfausse (A0.766985).

Dido's Lament, from Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, is far more expressive and dramatic than one would expect, given its use throughout of a ground bass (a repeated 5-bar bass line).  One key to this is that the phrases begin and end at various points in the five measures.  I've included all of Purcell's expressive techniques (particularly the suspensions) in this five-part string texture.  There is a supportive piano part throughout.  Level: intermediate or above.  Duration: 2:35 .
