Arranged by A. Douglas Biggs. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 9 pages. Adrian D Biggs #6620069. Published by Adrian D Biggs (A0.882283).

This arrangement of Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming takes a fresh look at the beloved 16th century Marian hymn. The familiar melody is now restructured into the gently asymmetrical 3+2+2 rhythm of a 7/8 meter. The music flows out, with that slight asymmetry giving an attractive "lilt" to the well-known tune. As with the rhythmic structure, the harmony is also reconsidered. Sonorities from related tonalities appear, providing new colors to enhance the well-known theme. The choral parts are attractive and singable, each part having a turn at the melody. Suitable for an intermediate to intermediate/advanced choir. A digital realization with scrolling music is at the provided Youtube link.
