Composed by Fromental Halévy (1799 - 1862). Arranged by Stephen Holloway. Opera,Romantic Period. Individual part. 8 pages. McKenzie Music #5896641. Published by McKenzie Music (A0.1013073).

Develop a true singing tone with your bassoon by playing these vocal gems arranged for your instrument. This is the second in a series called Bel Canto Bassoon. These arrangements for bassoon of operatic arias, many from the Bel Canto period and school, are both great fun to play and will help to develop a rich, singing tone. They are aimed at intermediate players, approximately ABRSM grade 4 - 6.

Si La Rigeur is from Halevy's 1835 opera "La Juive" (The Jewess).  It is pure bel canto in style, with beautiful, legato, cantabile phrases,. Like Sarastro's arias in Die Zauberflöte, it is full of warmth and kindly authority. I hope you will find it  rewarding to play.
