Tokudo - Entering the Gate of Enlightenment is for solo viola.  This unaccompanied viola music imitates the Japanese shakuhachi flute, violin and koto and is poly-stylistic. Tokudo was composed and premiered for the Hanamatsuri (Great Festival) at a Japanese Zen Buddhist Temple in California. It can be performed by both the solo artist or professional violist. The music goes up to a high E above the treble clef staff and includes complex rhythms. Tokudo makes and excellent recital or encore piece. The length of this solo piece is 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Tokudo represents the inner dialogue of the initiates during the Zen ceremony.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
