"When I Was A Little Girl" is a song recorded by American singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani for her fourth studio album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas (2017). It was released digitally on October 6, 2017, through Interscope Records, along with the rest of the parent album. This arrangement is faithful to Gwen's original recording in the key of C Major. The piano accompaniment is accessible and musically presented.

Although this song is obviously inspired by Gwen's relationship with Blake Shelton, songwriters and producers Justin Tranter and Michael Busbee do a wonderful job incorporating elements of the Christmas story to make this a more generally applicable song for anyone going through heartbreak and coming out on the other side. "Heartbreak can't fade all the plans that were made by a baby in a manger. Bright light so bright it was shining like a north star answer to a prayer." Gwen has also talked extensively in interviews over the years about her ideas of an ideal love, and this song talks about those wishes she made as a little girl.

Gwen has performed this song live several times including on the today Show and on her NBC Christmas special.
