Published by O'Meara Music (A0.808035).In 1835 William Walker published The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. He used a haunting melody that he’d heard during his travels through Appalachia with a poem that had been published in 1811. He titled the hymn Wondrous Love. The melody has now been traced back to an English Ballad (Roud #5089). In the Dorian mode, the sixth scale degree is lowered in the harmony some of the time.
