Program notes

Johann Sebastian Bach's third sonata for solo violin, BWV 1005, is an incomparable masterwork of Baroque music. Written in 1720, this sonata continues Bach's mastery of the solo violin, balancing lyrical expressivity and technical complexity within a single work.   The opening Adagio movement is particularly beloved for its slow, passionate melody and depth of emotion. The movement's simple structure – two repeating harmonic progressions that contrast and combine – is especially beautiful in its unadorned melodic lines and sonorous tones. At the same time, the movement is filled with subtle variations and technical challenges, making it a dazzling display of Bach's technical brilliance.  Come and experience Bach's heartfelt music. You will be warmed by its passionate lyricism, enchanted by its technical mastery, and moved by its profound emotional depth.
