Heather can be found growing on New Zealand highlands, so too, wild deer have a strong presence. Such similarities feature in the song which has that unmistakable Scottish swagger derived from a pounding beat. The intro, incidental parts in the chorus and the outro, all feature bagpipes. Thus, all in all, the song can be described as a down-under Scottish March.
