Composed by Adolphe-Charles Adam. Arranged by Vanessa Klassen. Christmas. 18 pages. Vanessa Klassen #6169659. Published by Vanessa Klassen (A0.919138).

In the year 1843 in a small town in the south of France, a local poet by the name of Placide Cappeau wrote a poem entitled Minuit, chrétiens (Midnight, Christians). Later the same year, French composer Adolphe Adam composed the music to accompany the poem. The lyrics reflect on the birth of Christ and the redemption of the world. The French version of the song is known as Cantique de Noël. The English version we are familiar with today, O Holy Night, was translated by John Sullivan Dwight in 1855.

This arrangement is for clarinet quintet. The performers should pay special attention to the intonation and balance between the parts as the melody is passed around.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
