By The Four Tops. By Bob Calilli, Mike Brown, and Tony Sansone. Arranged by T. Douglas Bush. Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. T. Douglas Bush #6232361. Published by T. Douglas Bush (A0.927629).

"Walk Away Renee" was written by Mike Brown, Tony Sansone, and Bob Calilli. In 1966, the song was a #5 hit single for the American band The Left Banke. Mike Brown, then 16, poured his heart out in the lyric that tells of his unrequited love for Renee, girlfriend of Tom Finn, bass player for the band.

Like many bands of the period, The Left Banke has a complicated history: They broke up, reunited, became involved in legal disputes, and went through many personnel changes. Interesting Trivia: Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith fame), provided backing vocals on one of their later albums. In 1967, the Four Tops recorded a version of the song. Rolling Stone lists "Walk Away Renee" as one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
