It introduces the major pentatonic scale and the major blues scale by building on the elementary student’s existing knowledge of the major and minor pentascales. It also introduces the basic 12-bar blues form. These pieces may be played as duets, with the student and teacher each playing with one hand, or as solos, with the student playing with both hands.
