This song reminds people to think about and respect the sea, as without it, life could not continue. Tides keep our ecosystem balanced, and all that live in the sea have evolved to keep everything in balance. The duty of all is to preserve the beauty and abundance of the oceans, not just for ourselves but for all who follow.
This anthem is perfect at community choir concerts, or as part of any Matariki celebration. Like the other works in the series, Waitā tells its own part of the Matariki story and explores the values of this burgeoning holiday on the Kiwi calendar!
