THE COST OF LOVING is a contemporary protest/folk song, written for alto or high tenor voice and guitar. The song is from the 2022 musical KIKI starring the Scottish chanteuse Christine Bovill. The show was set in 1920's Paris, about the relationship between the artist and muse, the extrordinary Kiki de Montparnasse and her lover, the American photographer Man Ray. The score  comprises 12 original songs by the songwriting team Brooks & King.
In 1924 Man Ray produced an image of Kiki, titled Le violon d'Ingres. On May 14th 2022 this work, considered by many as the prime example of Surrealist photography, was sold at Christie's in New York for the staggering $12.4 million, making history as the most expensive photograph ever sold at auction.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
