'What you never dared to hope' is a solo piece for 4.3 octave marimba (four mallets) that I wrote for the baptism of our second daughter. It has a melancholic touch, but with an optimistic and warm feeling throughout. It's sounds very open and clear, with simplistic beauty. The middle section utilizes the unusual mandolin roll that puts a nice little twist on it.

The piece is well suited for players starting at intermediate level, especially if they want to pick up a new rolling technique. It works very well for intimate events like baptisms, weddings, church service or similar, or small recitals.
