Composed by Jule Styne. Arranged by Liz Garnett. Contemporary. Octavo. 5 pages. Liz Garnett #3866281. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.856164).Marilyn Monroe's famous number from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes received an update with Nicole Kidman's performance in the film Moulin Rouge. This arrangement uses both as reference points, but its rhythm is characterised throughout by a riff from the latter. Both the rhythmic flavour and the embellishment strategy - which involves a good deal of melody-swapping in the second half - give plenty of opportunities for visual entertainment. It is a song that can't afford to take itself too seriously, but rewards a combination of self-deprecation and unashamed glitz.
The arrangement is notated in the traditional clefs for women's barbershop: treble and bass alta (i.e. sung an octave higher than written).
Vocal Ranges:
Tenor: C#4 - F5
Lead: A3 - E flat5
Bari: G3 - E flat5
Bass: D3 - A flat5
