The autograph of a composition always makes fascinating reading - and this is particularly true of Schubert's Trio in Eb major op. 100, as it underwent many changes during its composition. The manuscript, parts of which were greatly revised, bears eloquent witness to this and offers an opportunity to trace the intricacies of Schubert's phrasing and articulation. This source is in a private collection and our facsimile makes it accessible to the public for the very first time. It is, of course, in proven Henle quality, in lavish four-colour printing and with an extensive introductory text with in-depth information about the work. In a letter to his publisher in 1828, Schubert explicitly dedicated the work to 'no one, save those who find pleasure in it?. / Trio De Pianos

The early sonatas. Par SCHUBERT FRANZ. Schubert was visibly adventurous in his early piano sonatas, as is apparent in their wide-ranging key schemes, diverging versions of many movements or entire sonatas, and numerous works left incomplete. This revised Urtext edition contains the sonatas he composed between 1815 and 1817. An updated preface and valuable notes on central questions of performance practice (e.g. articulation, pedalling and embellishments), with a special emphasis on his idiosyncratic treatment of accent-like diminuendo hairpins, form a useful introduction to the sonatas. With the new Urtext Primo series, the Wiener Urtext Edition wants to close the gap arising at the point of transition to additional lessons after having studied a piano method. Beginning with a performance level which is outlined by pieces such as Bach's Minuet in G (BWV Anh. 116), Mozart's Minuet in F (KV 5) or Schumann's Wilder Reiter (Op. 68/8), each volume contains works by three different composers, with the aim of offering piano pupils (or even adults who want to resume piano playing) a wide range of repertoire pieces on the basis of which they can enhance their technical and musical skills. In contrast to conventional piano anthologies, the pieces' range of levels of difficulty is relatively narrow so that the volume can be used continuously over a period of about two years. The selected repertoire takes into account not only pieces of the classic canon of lessons, but also lesser known works which are in no way of less importance for piano lessons. The explanations included at the end of each volume shall help to deepen the knowledge of musical styles, music history and piano playing. Urtext Edition-Les deux trios avec piano de Schubert peuvent indubitablement être comptés au nombre de ses ?uvres les meilleures. Composés tous les deux en 1827 c?est-à-dire un an avant sa mort ce sont des ?uvres caractéristiques de sa maturité riches d?une grande invention mélodique alliée à une forte puissance créatrice formelle et une profonde expressivité. Si le trio en Mi bé-mol majeur op. 100 D 929 fut vendu à l?éditeur de Leipzig Probst (il ne parut cependant que juste après la mort de Schubert) le trio en Si bémol majeur op. 99 D 898 ne fut pas imprimé du vivant du compositeur. L?adagio en Mi bémol majeur op. post. 148 D 897 reproduit en annexe et connu plus tard sous letitre de Notturno fut conçu à l?origine comme mouvement lent du trio en Si bémol majeur. Schubert pourrait l?avoir considéré comme impropre à la publication du fait de son caractère sombre et expressif jusqu?au désespoir. Il ne parut d?ailleurs qu?en 1846. En annexe de ce recueil figure également le premier essai dans le genre du trio composé par Schubert à l?été 1812 alors qu?il était âgé de 15 ans.
