The diction for each song is recorded twice: first recited as an actor would speak it showing flow of the language and mood followed by a slow deliberate lesson allowing time for the student to repeat each line. This experienced language coach adapts the ?R? in German in the slow versions as recommended for classical singers. She is also very sensitive to liaisons between word sounds in the musical settings.

Op. 89. Par BRAHMS JOHANNES. The Three Fates or Parcae were the goddesses of fate in Greek-Roman mythology and sang on themes of curse and fate. The Parzenlied in Goethe’s verse drama “Iphigenie auf Tauris” is concerned with these themes and became the model for Johannes Brahms’s setting. It is based not only on the composer?s personal copy of the first edition as the primary source, but also on the engraving manuscript which was long thought to have been lost. Thus the composer?s handwritten corrections made in this manuscript could be incorporated in the new edition, as well as a revision in this bilingual edition of the English translation of Friedrich Hölderlin?s dramatic poem.
