The viola section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra commissioned Amlin in 2004 for a tribute to violist Burton Fine, who retired that December after 41 years with the orchestra. The result was Encomium, which Amlin built upon a thematic from the name Burton Fine. The world premiere was given in October 2005 by Fine and his wife and fellow chamber musician, Susan Miron, on harp.

New Urtext edition (2020) of Einojuhani Rautavaara's String Quartet No. 1 is based on the composer's manuscript, incorporating corrections and comments by composer's hand in various sources. Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928-2016) was one of Finland's internationally most successful composers. He made his major breakthrough with the Seventh Symphony, Angel of Light, in the 1990s, but his output includes numerous classic operas, concertos, chamber music works and choral works. Over his extensive career, he progressed from Neo-Classicism to strict dodecaphony to free-tonal Neo-Romanticism. His catalogue of influences over the decades includes Orthodox liturgical music and Finnish fiddlers. Rautavaara's first string quartet (1953) is from his Neo-Classical early period when he composed only little chamber music. Stravinsky and the Finnish folk music are present in the rhythmical first movement; later enters a characteristic scale alternating half and whole steps. After the Slavic romanticism of the slow movement Andante the fiddler is back in the cheerful Gigue.

Rautavaara's early piano composition, the suite Ikonit (Icons; 1955) shows great variety in the young composer's style. The most traditionally Neoclassical movements are 'Kaksi maalaispyhimysta' (Two Country Saints), which harks back to the Pelimannit style, and the fast-moving finale 'Arkkienkeli Mikael kukistaa Antikristuksen' (Archangel Michael defeats the Antichrist). Another dimension in this music is Orthodox mysticism, which breaks forth in the opening section 'Jumalaidin kuolema' (The Death of the Mother of God).

Angel of Dusk for double bass, two pianos and percussion is a chamber ensemble version of Einojuhani Rautavaara's double bass concerto dating from 1980/1993. The work is dedicated to Olga Koussevitzky, the widow of Sergey Koussevitzky. The Koussevitzky foundation sent Einojuhani Rautavaara to study with Aaron Copland in Tanglewood, and it was Sibelius who chose Rautavaara as the recipient of this scholarship. The solo part has been corrected by the composer in the summer of 2015.

New edition (2020) of Einojuhani Rautavaara's (1928-2016) Divertimento for string orchestra is based on the composer's manuscript, incorporating corrections and comments by composer's hand in various sources. Written in 1953, Divertimento is one of Einojuhani Rautavaara's) early works in which the rhythms and melodies of Finnish folk music, especially the Otrobothnian style, have left a strong print. In this respect the work is a close relative of Rautavaara's popular work The Fiddlers. The themes and motives of the various movements are closely related, and aeolian and mixolydian modes lend the piece an archaic and rustic air. The duration is circa 9 minutes. After the orchestral introduction, the harp leads into a gradually thickening texture that progresses into a series of powerful culminations. Once these subside, the expansive motifs of the introduction return. The solo is echoed by two harps in the orchestra: I wanted the magnificent sound to be multiplied. The simple melody in the second movement is coloured in a very archaic way by the orchestra; we might imagine the performance of a troubadour or a bard in ancient times. The finale is festive, 'solenne'. The flute concerto 'Dances with the Winds' was composed in 1974 for the Swedish flautist Gunilla von Bohr, a specialist in all members of the flute family. The ordinary flute thus alternates with a bass flute at the beginning and end of the four-movement concerto, the second movement is assigned to the shrill piccolo and the third to the sensuous alto flute. The last movement is a summary of all the musical events in the concerto. At the end the bass flute soars to the top of its register, the note D acting as the pivot to many of the symmetries in the work, against a resigned B flat minor chord on the orchestra.
