O Holy Night and Silent Night both originated in 19th century Europe while Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was introduced by Judy Garland in a 1944 Hollywood musical. Silver Bells was a 1950 Livingston-Evans pop hit but surely the most famous of them all is Irving Berlin’s White Christmas the 1940 song for which its composer had high hopes the moment he completed it. Conceived as a nostalgic number White Christmas was a slow starter but went on to become a huge success and formany the ultimate Christmas song. These arrangements lend themselves to being performed separately or in seamless succession for a Classic Christmas recital audiences will love.

Vocalise-Will Todd born in 1970 is forging a strong reputation for himself as a composer who is equally at ease in opera oratorio church music and jazz. His style is instantly accessible and lastingly memorable. He spent his formative years steeped in both jazz and the English choral tradition so in his choral music he is able to juxtapose strong rhythmic drive and rich harmonies with exquisitely lyrical vocal lines.'Angel Song II' is inspired by the idea of angels singing on Christmas night. The music weaves a gentle melody over the aleatoric textures of the accompanying voices. The text is designed to create the echo of the word 'Hosanna' butwith no consonants so that the music feels as if it comes from 'on high'.'

Sweet was the song was composed in 2003 as a commission from the Hampstead Chamber Choir and their then director Eamonn Dougan. His music is performed regularly in Britain at festivals including Spitalfields City of London Presteigne Deal and Little Missenden as well as abroad and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Recent works have included a string quartet for the Allegri Quartet and the one-man opera That Man Stephen Ward for the Hampstead & Highgate Festival.
