LYRICS A Pile of Potatoes
For Hanukkah
By Barbara Leeds
Buy a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Then schlep a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Then prep a pile, a pile of potatoes.
’Cuz Hanukkah’s a-coming and we like to eat.
Peel a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Then grate a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Make patties of a pile, a pile of potatoes.
’Cuz Hanukkah’s a-coming and we like to eat.
Heat up a pan with a bit of oil in it.
Wait for it to sizzle; it’ll only take a minute.
Put the patties in the pan. Yeah. Slap ’em down flat.
Press ’em to compress ’em and … that’s that.
Fry a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Then flip a pile, a pile of potatoes.
Then fry the other side of a pile of potatoes.
’Cuz Hanukkah’s a-coming and we like to eat.
When you’re in a hurry for a pile of potatoes,
With your feathers in a flurry for a pile of potatoes,
Then go ahead and scurry for a pile of potatoes,
’Cuz Hanukkah’s a-coming and we like to eat.
A pile of potatoes: what delectable delight.
Pick up a fork and take a big bite.
Munch ’em, crunch ’em. Golly, what a treat.
Hanukkah’s upon us and … we eat.
A pile of potatoes coming right up.
Shape ’em up, cook ’em up, eat ’em up. Yup!
