About the artist
I am a musician.

I enjoy listening to music, and consequentially enjoy performing and composing music. I primarily enjoy composing in a style akin to late 1800's and early 1900's composers, such as Debussy and Mahler. I also perform any amount of music ranging from pre-baroque to modern day music. Minimalism, romanticism, impressionism. I love them all.

I have participated in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensemble for two years, the Dearborn Youth Symphony Orchestra for one year, I am a section leader at Seaholm High School, attended a session of Interlochen and two sessions at Blue Lake for clarinet, and have participated in Solo and Ensemble for three years in high school. I am lead clarinet and ten

Well, here it is! I love Bach, and I can't play this on the piano yet, so I love that it is available for clarinet now too! This guy is amazing!

Long time no see!
Written on 2011-11-09 by quantumdylanBeen a long time since I updated here. Okay, here is the thing, I am not dead! Quite the opposite, I have been hard at work. Thus year I have:
Started taking AP Music theory at my high school, nearly finished the piece that I have been working on (sketches in c major), started to compose a musical in honor of my late clarinet teacher, Andrew Anthony Mormile, and have also started to write an opera, and a demned good one at that!

Besides my composing work, I finished the rearrangement of Rhapsody in blue for clarinet octet, and you can hear that if you head over to my youtube channel, www.youtube.com/quantumdylan53 .

Also, I am part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's youth ensemble, and got to play a lovely cadenza in Light Calvalry overture. Plus, I will be playing Begin the Beguine in the jazz band for my school. Mission accomplished!

And besides even the performance aspect of my busy life, I am now the proud owner of a zuckerman z-box harpsichord with both 8' and 4' octaves. I've nearly gotten the 8' restrung, and you can hear it on my youtube channel as well. As for everything else, I may release some soundbites relating to my opera soon, so stay tuned

Love you all, Dylan Packard

Together
Written on 2011-02-06 by quantumdylanHello everyone! I merely wanted to let everyone know that if anyone wants to play the piece Together, I would appreciate it if you would talk to me first, as this is one of the largest pieces I've composed and it represents a lot of my time. Thank you very much!

I'm working on a new piece!
Written on 2010-11-08 by quantumdylanAt my school, in the spring, the orchestra and the band come together to form a symphonic orchestra. I'm a player in that, so I decided to rearrange Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor for an orchestra. If anyone would like a copy of the piece, please be patient. Sometime this week it should be done. I've got some other symphony band pieces, and some more orchestral pieces in the works as well.
