Scarborough Fair is an old English song from the late
Middle Ages. At that time, the town of Scarborough was
still a very important port (especially in the
fifteenth century), and a meeting place no less
important for the merchants who came from all over
England at the Scarborough Fair. It was popularized in
1966 by Simon & Garfunkel.
