'Musical Offering' était composée de David Sabee (violoncelle) et Ivan Sokolov (piano), qui créa le travail en 2010. Dans cette sonate en cinq mouvements, les passages en solo alternent avec le violoncelle et le piano à jouer ensemble. Le centre de l'oeuvre est le quatrième mouvement qui est dédié à la mémoire de ma mère. Les quatre premiers mouvements se succèdent sans interruption (attacca). Most of the play-along tracks feature the rhythm section of the 1980 Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band with Harold Danko on piano, Rufus Reid on bass and the late, great Mel Lewis on drums. Since they performed and recorded together consistently over aperiod of several years, they played as a unit - a true jazz rhythm section. The recordings were brought up to meet todays higher CD standards and served as an inspiration for Ramon Ricker to write three entirely new books. Originally commissioned for the celebration of Tennessee's Homecoming '86 Jug Blues & Fat Pickin' is inspired by recordings of the Memphis Jug Band the most recorded and perhaps most popular of the jug bands to spring up on Memphis' Beale Street in the late 1920's and also bluegrass banjo pickin'.
