Performance CD featuring eight concert solos for piano. After a long absence from solo piano recording, Joel Raney has put together an amazing new CD of concert arrangements that will delight his many fans. Those who are familiar with Joel's vocal music may not know of his rare skill as a pianist. From his earning of a Masters in Piano from Juilliard, to the recording of hundreds of advertising tracks (think of the United Airlines' Rhapsody in Blue commercials), to church recitals featuring his own arrangements, Joel's exuberant yet sensitive keyboard work has never failed to move his listeners. This new CD features recordings of his more difficult piano arrangements. Some, such as the title track Carry Me Home and the lively medley Heaven, have a gospel flavor, tinged with jazz, a style for which Joel is renowned. Others are creative imaginings of favorite hymns like His Eye Is on the Sparrow and How Great Thou Art. Church musicians or indeed anyone interested in piano music can't afford to miss out on this wonderful new collection!.

Saxophone Concertino is one of a series of solo concerti by Japanese composer, Satoshi Yagisawa. In this piece, the solo saxophonist's voice does not separate from the concert band, but rather develops musically and gently in combination with it. “Maur ice Hauchard (1870-1957) was a French violinist and composer. As a minor composer, often in the shadow of his contemporary, Maurice Ravel, much of Hauchard's music is not widely known. However, his First Concert Solo for Violin and Piano provides excellent preparation for the classical concertos. As an excellent, versatile musician Hauchard loved his art and remains one of the greatest contributors to music education. First Concert Solo is part of a series of modern concert solos for the Violin, intended for young violinists. The First Concert Solo</strong is Allegro in tempo and makes use of a variety of techniques. All violinists seeking to play the large concertos of the repertoire should play this delightful Hauchard work to ensure progression.&rdquo.

Gemini Concerto was commissioned by and written for Ryukoku University (Japan), André Henry and Shoichiro Hokazono. Set in three movements, the concerto aims to explore the close relationship, as solo instruments, between the trumpet and euphonium, exploiting the many common factors between the two as well as the subtly different characteristics they possess in terms of both lyrical and rhythmic playing. Prokofiev composed his first piano concerto while at the Conservatory, in 1911 and 1912, and premiered it himself on August 7, 1912. The concerto is a single movement divided into clearly marked sections. Prokofiev could in this way keep the typical fast-slow-fast structure of the usual three-movement concerto, yet use some of the same thematic elements throughout all of his sections. Throughout the work, Prokofiev demonstrates his penchant for bright, percussive textures. The glockenspiel takes on a uniquely soloistic role, often teaming up with the piano to sparkle above the orchestral fray. With its bravura solos and daring harmonies, Prokofiev's first 'mature' composition announces him as a musical force to be reckoned with.
