Umfangreiche Vorarbeiten gehen bis auf das Jahr 1912 zuruck - noch beim Abschluss der Manuskripte 1963 bzw. 1952 konnte Deutsch Quellen berucksichtigen, die der Schubert-Forschung bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt unbekannt waren.
