Please ask before ordering. The three movements (Serenata, Rondo, Notturno) of the 1966 Musica da camera per 11 reflect in their musical character on the neo-classical works of Stravinsky. Its modernity derives from Maros's instrumentation: the percussion and harp dominate among the eleven instruments, but the soaring lines of the melodic instruments - flute, two clarinets and violin - appear in the score as a signature typical of Maros. The new volume in the Musica da camera series has been compiled for a relatively rare type of ensemble, three guitars. This collection spanning the 16th?19th centuries contains not only madrigals by Luca Marenzio, two Bach chorales and Schumann?s Träumerei, but also transcriptions of popular pieces by many other composers (including Händel, Haydn, Schubert and Grieg), enabling music-school guitar students to play familiar, enjoyable works that they have heard performed by other instrumentalists.

Angelo Maria Fiore (c. 1660-1723), composer and virtuoso cellist, was the founder of the Piedmont school. In 1697 he was invited to the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna as a rare cello player. During his lifetime his work entitled Trattenimenti di camera a due stromenti, violino e cimbalo o violino e violoncello was published by Bartolomeo Gregori in 1698, barely three years after the first cello sonatas to appear in print, the works of Giuseppe Jacchini. Three of the 14 Trattenimenti were written for cello and basso continuo, and they form the contents of this volume. This edition is faithful to the text of the source and the archaic style of writing has been modernized to makethe score (intended for practical, pedagogical purposes) easier to read.
