The Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Op.103 was written in 1958 and is yet another superb orchestral work by Edmund Rubbra. Typically, this is a work that calls more on musicality than on virtuosity, although Rubbra knewthe violin well for having long partnered his wife and for having long played in a trio with William Pleeth. Rubbra's familiarity with the instrument certainly helped him avoiding technical ‘tricks’ and concentrating his creativeenergies more on an inward-looking solo part than an outward-dashing virtuosic one! This is an arrangement for Solo Violin with Piano Accompaniment. The solo violin part is also included on a separate insert.

Andrà© Jolivet (1905-1974) composed this Concerto for Flute and Strings in 1949. Initially written for Flute and String Orchestra, this version contains the scores for the Flute and the Piano and lasts 12 minutes. Thisstrong>Concerto for Flute and Strings is quite unusual as it was only created in two movements, each divided into a slow introduction and a fast main part. Used as one of the main pieces of the Geneva music contest _x001A_Concours deGenève_x001A_ in 2014, this concerto requires advanced skills. André Jolivet is a French composer who was really inspired by the Antiquity and had a strong interest for atonality. He also wrote many chamber music pieces, elevenconcertos, some orchestral and some vocal music.

Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s, Eugene Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opera-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline, Bozza's compositions were well-received by audiences, particularly those for wind instruments, and his Clarinet Concerto is no exception. This Bozza piece for Clarinet is expressive and virtuosic, displaying the entire range of the instrument, accompanied by an equally virtuosic Piano reduction. The Concerto comprises three movements and is one of 19 Concertos written by the composer. As music educationalist, Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions, his works reveal melodic fluency, elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities. Clarinet Concerto is a suitable and significant addition to the advanced clarinetist's repertoire..

Robert Schumann's Violoncello Concerto op. 129 can be regarded as the first great concerto for this instrument's repertoire. It is thus somewhat surprising that this work had an extremely problematic reception history at the outset.Schumann wrote the score in 1850, during his Dusseldorf years, but there was neither a concrete occasion nor a soloist for a world premiere. After its publication, more years elapsed before the world premiere. It was only towards the end of the 19th century that Schumann's Cello Concerto finally made its breakthrough as a repertoire piece. The Urtext edition is based on the original print of the parts and the piano reduction, which had still been supervised by Schumann. In addition, the autograph of the score was consulted for purposes of comparison. The internationally renowned soloist Heinrich Schiff took part in the preparation of the edition for violoncello and piano. His experiences have been incorporated into his arrangement of the solo part. With his comments, Schiff also provides valuable tips on the interpretation of the work.A key work of the romantic concerto repertoireThe piano reduction by Robert Schumann contains the unsigned solo part as well as the solo part arranged and annotated by Heinrich Schiff.
