Complete theoretical and practical method for organ-playing in three parts. Par PEETERS FLOR. Flor Peeters, born in Belgium in 1903, is one of the most important organists and organ composers of the 20th century. After completing his studies at the famous Lemmens Institute in Mechelen, he worked there as a teacher of organ and improvisation before becoming professor at and director of the Royal Flemish Conservatoire of Antwerp. Until his death in 1986, Peeters gave concerts all around the world, held numerous master classes and received several awards and prizes for his achievements as a composer, organist and teacher. In his successful three-volume educational work 'Ars Organi', Peeters combines theoretical knowledge and practical exercises on all aspects of organ playing, starting with basic information on the instrument, manual and pedal exercises and two-part manual and pedal playing. While Vol. 2 contains exercises on three-part playing, Vol. 3 contains exercises on four and five-part playing as well as studies on demanding trio playing. In 1739 Bach's Third Part of the Clavier Übung was published on 80 pages closely printed. Ever since then the collection has been regarded as a high point in the history of organ composition as it offers an impressive cross section of Bach's artistry.This present volume is an updated edition of Volume 4, Series IV, of the New Bach Edition, presented by Manfred Tessmer in 1969. A fully revised edition proved unnecessary, as there were relatively few corrections affecting the musical text. However, the volume now includes a detailed Preface by Christoph Wolff which discusses not only the work's genesis but also offers an up-to-date description of the sources. For the new engraving of the musical text page-turns were reviewed and improved.Bach's autograph is considered lost and so the main source is the original print of the collection from 1739. In collaboration with the Leipzig Bach Archive and its database Bach digital this new edition includes links to two important copies of the original print which contain hand-written entries by Bach himself.Any complete scholarly-critical edition of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach must, in the interest of its use by researchers and performers, incorporate intervening new discoveries wherever possible. With this in mind, Bärenreiter has entered an agreement with the Leipzig Bach Archive to reissue particular volumes as applicable, either in updated performing editions based on the New Bach Edition or in thoroughly revised editions based on the New Bach Edition - revised. In this way, each new performing edition will represent the cutting edge of research.Further hallmarks of this new generation of Urtext editions will be detailed, up-to-date Prefaces and newly engraved musical texts with optimum page turns. Bach: Complete Organ Works Vol. 6 Clavierübung III / Schübler-Choräle / Canonische Veränderungen über 'Vom Himmel hoch' - ed. by Werner Breig Bach Organ Works Printed During the Composer's Lifetime Volume 6 contains the chorale-related organ works that Bach personally had printed: the Dritte Theil der Clavier Übung was published (for organists) in 1739; the Sechs Choräle von verschiedener Art (Schübler-Choräle) and the Canonische Veränderungen were released in separate editions most likely in 1747/48. None of these collections had from the start the appearance which the composer considered as valid in the end. For this reason, Werner Breig focuses in particular on questions of origin in his introduction. Fundamental findings on the genesis of the Clavier Übung III were made only after the publication of the work in the Neue Bach-Ausgabe. The basically unproblematic state of the sources means that this volume contains no CD-ROM with supplementary materials. It was, however, considered editorially necessary to print the Canonische Veränderungen BWV 769 in three versions: as a facsimile of the original print, in a practical arrangement, and in the autograph version (BWV 769a). The Fantasy in D minor (No. 1) was written in 1957 by Miloslav Kabelác, one of the most influential composers of the twentieth century. The prominent Czech organist Jirí Reinberger initiated the composition. It was the composer's first work for solo organ and the piece soon became a staple of international organ repertoire. The Fantasy in G minor (No. 2) was composed the following year on commission for the 1st International Organ Competition of the Prague Spring International Festival 1958.Although both fantasies were given the same opus number, this is the first ever edition to include both of these works in one volume. Charles Louis Eugène Koechlin (1867-1950) a étudié avec Massenet et Fauré et fonda la Société Musicale Indépendante avec Ravel, Schmitt, Caplet et Huré. Poulenc et Sauguet étaient deux de ses élèves. La composition des organes de Koechlin est publié dans une édition en deux volumes pour la première fois. Qu'il s'agit d'une oeuvre très importante apparaît clairement dans le fait que les créations ont été réalisées par des organistes importants: Olivier Messiaen a joué la Chorale op. 90 et Maurice Duruflé la première Sonatine.Une édition intéressante pour des concerts, des compétitions et de la liturgie. The Homage to Handel for Organ was composed ‘as an expression of thanks for having been elected as an honorary member of the Royal College of Organists in 1914. Karg-Elert responded to the honour with this work calling on inspiration from a composer ‘whom both England and German claim as their own’ at the time of the commencement of hostilities between the two nations. Sigfrid Karg-Elert was a German composer active in the early twentieth century whose broad output is eclipsed almost entirely by his works for harmonium and Organ instruments for which he was a gifted and prolific composer. His Organ works include the highly regarded Sixty-six Choral Improvisations andTwenty Choral Preludes and Postludes among others. Many of his works are active in Organ repertoire.
