Reichert (1830 - 1880) performer composer and teacher is a household name with most flautists. He is known chiefly for his studies which integrate melody and harmony. This makes them more appealing to players and far easier to focus on than mere mechanical exercises. The majority of Reichert’s other compositions are less well known. Yet they are proof of his extraordinary virtuosity his imagination and his ability to express genuine emotion in his pieces. In order to cater for the rapidly growing interest in 19th-century flute music Schott has decided to re-publish these works for flute and piano.

12 Pieces From 4 Centuries-The ‘Easy Concert Pieces’ series presents a varied selection of easy concert pieces for flute and piano from the Renaissance Baroque and Classical periods through to the modern era. To facilitate choosing individual pieces for performance and auditions at music schools competitions or examinations these pieces have been ordered according to level of musical and technical difficulty:Volume 3 (ED 22927) requires the full range of notes on the flute. Besides increasing demands on finger technique now the main focus is on imaginative phrasing using for example a wider range of dynamics tone colours articulation and agogic phrasing always set in active dialoguewith the piano.

Paul Hindemith's musical style is heavily influenced from the music of the Reformation. From composers such as Bach Schumann Brahms and Reger he has inherited a love of all things German such as chorales and a preoccupation with the symphony chamber music and opera. D minor - flute and piano editor: Weinzierl, Elisabeth The popularity of the compositions, arrangements and exercises by Wilhelm Popp (1828-1903) has never diminished, and stems from his ability to write in the Romantic concert style and still consider their practicability for pupils and amateurs. Vocal and virtuoso passages have been arranged in accordance with the capabilities of the respective instrument so that the effect is always greater than the level of difficulty. Russisches Zigeunerlied Op. 462/ 2, printed in 1896 for the first time, is the best example. Ideal for lessons, pupils' concerts or the competition 'Jugend musiziert'.

These generally song-like and intuitively straightforward melodies require simple breathing techniques. Phrasing is supported throughout by clear and straightforward pianoaccompaniments.

The volume 'Klassik für Kinder' provides young flute players with a selection of 26 easy works for lessons and concerts. The selected pieces range from the Baroque era via the Classical period to the Romantic era. Apart from original pieces, the editors have deliberately included easy arrangements of well-known masterpieces as well in order to facilitate access to the classical concert literature.The pitch range found in the pieces (not higher than E6) can be easily mastered by pupils from the second year of tuition.
