Composed for upper-beginners  Berceuse Op.19 is a piece for F Horn and Piano accompaniment by J. M. Damase. Quite short this piece is quite easy with a difficulty level 3°. Really nice and peaceful this piece is perfect to enjoy playing music aside from all the exercises and études necessary for beginners. The Horn begins “Andante” with a theme in seven measures accompanied by chords on the Piano. A really melodious part then features until the end of the piece when the initial themes are played again a Tempo. J. M. Damaseis a French musician and a great composer who wrotenumerous lyrical works and some chamber music. One of his most famous pieces is the Sonata for Flute and Harp.

On the summits (Sur les cimes) by Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) is a very enjoyable piece for F Horn and Piano which lasts 7 minutes. Difficult to play it requires the mastering of techniques such as the glissando the lip trill and the mute. Also challenging because of its cadenza part it was composed in one movement which features five sections. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

Floraison is a terrific 1975 composition by John McCabe from The Goddess Triloigy for Horn in F and Piano accompaniment. Floraison translates as 'flowering' or 'blossoming' and this piece depicts the flower maiden and love goddess Blodeuwedd ('bloom maiden') who is also an owl goddess. She was made up of nine kinds of flowers and in one pagan ritual her husband was sacrificed ascending after death into the skies in the form of an eagle. This composition is cast in the form of a passacaglia in which there are nine variations but perhaps more important than this is the initial image behind the piece which was that of a flower graduallyopening and then closing. This image governs the shape of the music with its increasingly elaborate and intense growth towards its climax and then a return at the close to the opening ideas.
